DIY Christmas Ornaments

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Here is a great DIY Christmas project. Last year I made some homemade Christmas ornaments. I bought a few boxes of glass ornaments. I decided to personalize an ornament for each family member. I removed the gold hanger and stuffed the ornament with basket filler.

I put the top back on. Then I cut vinyl designs with my Silhouette SD. I also cut out letters to personalize each ornament.

I think they look cute!! I made ornaments for the kid’s teachers to match the subject the teacher taught. The great thing is that you can create many designs or you can coordinate ornaments for a matching tree.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to reflect on the blessings of life. I am very thankful for my family. I cherish sitting at my parents’ house and talking to my siblings and their families. Every year the family changes, there are new faces and the kids are growing so fast. Next year there will be two new babies. In my family they always seem to come in twos.

This year I was tasked with making a dessert for Thanksgiving. I knew I had a few boxes of cake mix in the pantry so I chose to make cupcakes. As I was walking around Target I looked up Thanksgiving cupcakes and found a picture of Pilgrim hat cupcakes. Thank you, modern technology. I was able to grab cookies, peanut butter cups and vanilla icing. I made a batch of confetti cupcakes and a batch of devil’s food. My daughter has been begging for strawberry iced cupcakes so I had the icing in the pantry. The Pilgrim hats turned out o.k., my pastry bag skills are not the best.

I used what I had at home and made a mix of different combinations. My favorite was devil’s food with chocolate icing and toffee on top.
